Coolidge opposes ‘detrimental’ bill backed by Pinal representative

Coolidge City Council unanimously approved a resolution Monday officially opposing a bill that was introduced by a representative of a large portion of Pinal County.

House Bill 2143 relates to public contracts and procurement, apparently reducing the threshold or current adjusted value from $150,000 down to $25,000, including material and equipment, for construction, reconstruction or maintenance to local roads. It would require cities to bid for all items related to the project.

That would go for everything right down to a small pothole repair.
