County changing Pinal Airpark
By Susan Randall | Casa Grande Dispatch
The guard shack and its forbidding, wooden arms are gone — so is the guard who used to demand identification and a reason for being there.
Pinal Airpark is changing. Visitors are welcome now. The restaurant is open to the public from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
Located on about 1,500 acres west of Interstate 10 between Red Rock and Marana, the airpark was constructed in 1943 as the Marana Army Air Field to train pilots for the Army Air Corps.
