Florence Council opts for closer look at future annexations

The town will enlarge the town limits a bit more cautiously than it has for the last decade, following a change in policy by the Town Council.
“Since much has changed over the last several months, (town) staff believes it is prudent to reassess how we pursue future annexation proposals,” Mark Eckhoff, Florence Community Development Director, wrote in a memo to the council.
These changes include new council members, reduced revenue, limits on what the town may legally spend, and reduced capital budget. The town also has two major annexations, taking in Magic Ranch and other areas, that are on hold pending court challenges.
