Goodman calls for do-over on Pinal salary survey item

In a rare move, Pinal County Supervisor Mike Goodman called a special session Friday morning to rediscuss an item passed at Wednesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting, and that is likely to eliminate a provision allowing individual salary changes.

Goodman, R-San Tan Valley, explained at Friday’s meeting that he did not feel fully informed enough to make a decision that he could be comfortable with moving forward, which he said, as opposed to putting “blame” on the county staff, was “more on me than anything.”

“When I dove into this, I dove into this with the anticipation of — I wanted to know the nuts and bolts of what makes this county run, and I still have a lot to learn,” the first-time politician said.
