Johnson Utilities rep asks for extension on air quality order

A request from Johnson Utilities to extend the deadline for complying with an air quality mandate wasn’t considered by Pinal County elected officials this week because it didn’t come through proper channels.

Johnson Utilities representative Brad Cole took the opportunity to publicly address the county Board of Supervisors, updating the panel on the utility company’s efforts to comply with air quality regulations.

And those efforts, Cole said, prompted a scenario: Would it be possible to consider extending the deadline on the order of abatement by consent to perhaps avoid a court filing in relation to the company’s violations?
