Marana Estates water pipes upgrading to 21st century

Marana Estates is getting a much-needed upgrade to its 66-year-old water pipes, to the tune of $125,000.
Last month, a portion of homes in the neighborhood endured six major water failures over one weekend because the outdated infrastructure was failing. During that time, some residents were without water for a couple hours at a time, according to Marana Water Director John Kmiec.
“As a result, it’s caused significant disruption in service to those residents within that community,” said Marana’s finance director Erik Montague at the Oct. 3 Town Council meeting.
