Maricopa council candidates make pitch to community

floodplainFour Maricopa City Council candidates squared off at a Saturday morning debate, competing for two seats in the upcoming general election.

Vice Mayor Marvin Brown, Councilman Bridger Kimball, former Councilwoman Julia Gusse and former Interim Councilman Dan Frank took the stage at the UltraStar Multi-tainment Center at Ak-Chin Circle in Maricopa. For the most part, discussions elicited little opposition among candidates. Conversation topics included drawing in business owners, increasing police and fire staff and flood plains, among others.
