Leon PotterLeon Potter’s resignation from the city council on March 17 left a void for the rest of the council to fill.

At Tuesday’s regular meeting, the council discussed options for an appointment process, as it must appoint a replacement, according to state statute.

Due to a recent change in law, whoever is appointed to the seat will not finish the entirety of Potter’s term, which has more than two years remaining. Instead, the appointee will essentially fill the seat for about seven months, until the end of the year.
