Police substation at Copper Sky planned

The city of Maricopa has set aside $4 million in its 2014-15 budget to pay for a police substation on its property north of the Copper Sky Multigenerational Center.
Finance Director Brian Ritschel said the project is justified because it will provide a police station on the south side of the city.
A substation will meet the city’s “public safety needs and growth for the next 15 years,” Ritschel said.
The $4 million will pay for design, construction, furnishings and equipment to operate a substation, he said.
