RC Flyers club receives national award

Casa Grande Dispatch

The Casa Grande RC Flyers, an Academy of Model Aeronautics-chartered club with about 170 members, was just awarded the designation of a “Gold Leaders Club” by the AMA. Out of approximately 2,400 chartered clubs in the nation, only 151 clubs have met the criteria necessary to receive the distinguished honor.

The Casa Grande RC Flyers has been a part of the Casa Grande community for five years and during that time has held many events for the benefit of local charities and for the public’s enjoyment. Members have raised money for the Valley Humane Society, the Casa Grande Food Bank, the Wounded Worrier Project and others. They have provided educational programs at several area schools and an area 4-H club. They have taught countless individuals, from ages 10 to 80, to fly model aircraft and enjoy the hobby. They continually try to give back to the community as a way of showing their thanks for the support they received from the city and area businesses.
