Florence Heights Drive – the most heavily-traveled and bumpiest local street – is due to receive a major new paving in the spring that should result in a much smoother surface for the next 10 years or so, town staff said.

The town is not yet ready to rebuild and widen the street, which has been discussed at various times over the years. The town needs a lot more information, including how the state will rebuild its intersections at each end of the street, Public Works Director and Town Engineer Chris Salas said.

“We don’t have enough knowledge today to justify a multi-million-dollar expansion of this road,” Salas said.
