Is umpiring government bureaucracy?

When Coolidge Parks and Recreation Director Ricky LaPaglia came before the City Council to add an umpire job description for the City of Coolidge it started smoothly enough.

LaPaglia came before the Coolidge City Council, Monday Aug. 22, to add the job description for the adult sports leagues in Coolidge.

“In the past we’ve always contracted individuals for these services,” LaPaglia said. “And speaking with the Finance Department and attorneys they felt it in the best interests for city that we employ these individuals rather than put them on a contract.”

One councilmember, Robert Hudelson, was against the item and cited “government bureaucracy” while doing so.
