Walter leads Florence mayoral race; Home Rule favored to win

Tara Walter was far ahead in the race for mayor in unofficial results Wednesday morning and will probably face incumbent Mayor Tom Rankin in the general election as challenger Gem Cox was eliminated from the race.
It appeared all five candidates for Town Council will move on to the fall ballot.
Florence’s Prop 411, which restores the town’s Home Rule option, was winning more than 2-1, according to the Pinal County elections website.
