Already familiar with the wide-ranging area of Legislative District 11, having served as campaign manager for Arizona Senate candidate Jo Holt in her last two campaigns, Holly Lyon, a retired Air Force colonel, is now a candidate for the House in that district.
Lyon, who was again working as Holt’s campaign manager in the 2014 District 11 Senate campaign, decided after several lengthy conversations with Holt and other people that she could best serve the district by offering an alternative to the three Republicans currently in the race. Oro Valley residents Mark Finchem and Jo Grant and Saddlebrooke resident Vince Leach have already announced for the position. Arizona City resident Barry McCain has filed to run on the Democratic side.
The two Republican House incumbents have other plans: Steve Smith is seeking to return to the Senate, and Adam Kwasman is a candidate for the 1st Congressional District seat.
