Coolidge Council opts for lower impact fee rates

A tough choice had to be made when city council determined the fate of the Coolidge development impact fees rates: Do possible future shortcomings in general fund revenue outweigh the risk of losing out on future businesses and industry coming into town? For all the members, the answer was a clear “no.”

In a 6-1 vote on May 12, with Mayor Tom Shope voting no, the Coolidge city council voted to adopt a much smaller impact fee rate than originally proposed, after the initial figures made them fear for the future viability of Coolidge when it comes to new economic development.
