Desert Carmel: Struggling subdivision may receive needed help

Desert CarmelThe process of transferring 2,800 lots in the Desert Carmel subdivision to a new owner has begun. Once it’s complete, the struggling community might finally have the cash to make major improvements.

The lots were for sale for several years and fell in and out of escrow a few times without a finalizing deal.

“It’s all water under the bridge now,” said Robert Itkin, a court-appointed receiver who oversees the Desert Carmel homeowners association.
