City of Maricopa working toward Amtrak’s relocation

One of the most important things that must be done before Maricopa constructs its long-awaited overpass on Arizona 347 is relocate its Amtrak station.
The station, which is the main Amtrak hub for Phoenix, currently sits at the southeast corner of the intersection of 347 and the Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway. The City will eventually move it to the Estrella Gin property near the site of the old interim City Hall trailers off Garvey Avenue.
Until the relocation takes place, the City is discussing temporary options to free up traffic when the train stops to load and unload passengers, which causes significant delays for motorists traveling on 347.
