Maricopa Councilmember Peggy Chapados appointed to board

(News release) – The City of Maricopa is proud to announce that Councilmember Peggy Chapados has been appointed to serve as a member of the Community Action Human Resources Agency Board of Directors. Appointed in December, Councilmember Chapados participated in her first meeting in January. Councilmember Chapados brings to the appointment a vast experience of working with nonprofit organizations throughout the years, as well as, her leadership through her service as a member of the Peggy ChapadosMaricopa City Council.

For more than 25 years, the Community Action Human Resources Agency (CAHRA) has been the provider of vital services to those in need throughout Pinal County. CAHRA provides financial assistance, emergency home repair services, housing for homeless families and self-help housing assistance for those individuals in low and median-income households.

“CAHRA is a safety net that is an important part of our community,” said Chapados. “By providing resources throughout the county, resources that cannot be found anywhere else, they are providing support to individuals and families that need it most.”

One aspect of CAHRA’s outreach is to build relationships with the various facets of the communities that make up Pinal County. Those facets include community resources, non-profit organizations, faith-based organizations and municipal and state governments. By bringing these organizations together, they are able to work cohesively to address the issues that are facing low-income communities.

“I have been a long-time supporter of many of the agencies that make up the CAHRA network,” said Chapados. “To have the opportunity to serve in this capacity and represent Maricopa means so much to me, both as a member of our community and as an elected official.

I strongly believe that together we can make a difference and make our communities stronger. The agencies that assist CAHRA are working to make that happen every day. I look forward to working with them.”
