Pinal County budget might require drastic moves

Pinal County has been tightening its belt, but it’s going to have to lose a few more pounds to get its budget in shape, officials say.

The annual county budget summit took place Wednesday, and the forecast was bleak. County Manager Greg Stanley presented several options to the Board of Supervisors to right the financial ship, most of which require deep cuts.

Stanley had earlier recommended a 2 percent across-the-board cut for all county departments, which the Board of Supervisors approved.

But that cut is expected to be just the beginning.
