Economic development officials trying to drive high-paying jobs to San Tan Valley; retail will follow, they say

Home Depot ranks high on Tim Kanavel’s list of major businesses planning to locate in San Tan Valley. The county’s economic development manager says he knows people have been anticipating the home improvement and garden care giant’s arrival for years on its 12.7-acre property on the northeast corner of Hunt Highway at Gary Road, he said during a phone interview.

The $65 million facility is expected to employ more than 75 people, according to the project list Mr. Kanavel provides monthly to the Pinal County Board of Supervisors. He expects the home improvement company will go before the county’s site review board this summer and could begin construction in early 2016 or 2017 but those are just educated guesses because the corporation is keeping mum about its plans for San Tan Valley, he said.
