New group begins researching facts, figures for possible 2016 Arizona City incorporation drive

Organizers Dave Ingraham and Kim Allen expected between 10 and 15 people to show up to their informal, preliminary meeting about the possibility of Arizona City incorporation in November 2016. The two were unprepared for the 50 or more citizens who actually showed up at Duffer’s Restaurant to hear what the two had to say. With Ingraham and Allen was Eloy City Manager Harvey Krauss, who spoke to the audience and answered many city-specific questions.
Krauss gave an overview of what it means for a city to be incorporated and outlined several issues critical to forming and running a city.
“He didn’t paint the rosiest of pictures,” said Ingraham in reference to Krauss’ outline of the incorporation process, stressing that citizens on both sides of the issue should work together to research and gather accurate, relevant information in order to make and informed choice about trying for incorporation.
Ingraham said that he and Allen would like to have a series of informal meetings, about once a month, as they gather the information necessary for drafting a feasible budget, deciding on an acceptable map (metes and bounds) of what the city would include and a whole range of other critical issues.
