Casa Grande budget passes despite protests

The cost to house aircraft at Casa Grande Municipal Airport won’t be going up after a number of people complained about a proposed rate increase and conditions at the facility.
The Casa Grande City Council approved a new budget Monday that included a series of rate increases but took out fee increases at the airport.
The council meeting, which included three public hearings, lasted more than four hours. A number of speakers spoke out for and against the proposed increases in wastewater and sanitation rates, while a number of citizens spoke against the increase in airport hangar rentals.
Speakers with a business interest at the airport spoke out against the proposed $27 increase for medium “T” hangars and $34 increase on large “T” hangars. The increases would have taken the cost of monthly rentals from $180 for the medium size to $207, and from $231 for the large hangar to $265.
