Pinal sups signal property tax increase

Pinal County The fat lady has not officially sung, but it appears a property tax increase in Pinal County is inevitable.

A tentative budget of $421 million for Fiscal Year 2016 was passed by a 3-2 vote of the Board of Supervisors at its regular meeting Wednesday. That tentative budget includes an increase in the primary property tax from $3.79 to $3.99 per $100 of net assessed valuation.

The county estimates the 20-cent tax increase will net an additional $4 million in revenue, designed to offset $4.6 million in funding cuts from the state Legislature.
