The facility for a Casa Grande manufacturer that bills itself as the world’s fastest-growing cream-cheese company has been nominated for 2015 Plant of the Year by a dairy magazine.
Franklin Foods Inc. is one of 11 dairy-processing plants across the country that voters can select in Dairy Foods magazine’s poll at dairyfoods.com.
The company, based in Delray Beach, Fla., has had a stake in Arizona since 2013, when it opened a 90,000-square-foot plant in Casa Grande. The plant employs 53 people. Franklin Foods also has a dairy plant in Enosburg Falls, Vt., which opened in 1899.
The plant in Casa Grande procures milk and cream from United Dairyman of Arizona and produces between 750,000 and 1 million pounds of cheese a week, according to the company. This surpasses the Vermont plant by about 10 percent.
