U.S. 60 Freeway Ramp at Meridian Drive Opens Ahead of Schedule
(NEWS RELEASE)
The new U.S. 60 on and off ramps at Meridian Drive have opened well ahead of schedule.
The east-bound off-ramp and west-bound on-ramp on the Superstition Freeway at the western border of Apache Junction were opened on Friday.
The $8 million Arizona Department of Transportation project began in October 2014 and was slated to be completed by January 2016.
Meridian Drive at the freeway was closed for the better part of the year while ADOT’s contractors built the new ramps connecting Meridian Drive to U.S. 60. Previously, there were no freeway access at Meridian Drive.
With the opening of the new ramps, travelers can access the city of Apache Junction at the five major roads that go into the city from the freeway — Meridian Drive, Ironwood Drive, Idaho Road, Tomahawk Road and Goldfield Road.
