Editorial: Pinal transportation
Pinal County — large, spread out and traditionally rural — long has lacked good connections from east to west. That is especially true regarding the far-eastern part of Pinal. Over the years, though, the major dirt connecting roads have been improved.
Also, Maricopa, now a city nearing 50,000 population, is somewhat isolated on the western end, although it is close to Maricopa County. An effort is being discussed to improve roads from Maricopa to Interstate 10 in the Casa Grande area. Actually, that began several years ago with improvements to Val Vista Road. The plan under discussion would continue the enhancements to form a better link from State Route 347 to I-10.
