Town flexible on signs

Almost 10 years after houses first started appearing in Anthem at Merrill Ranch, developer Pulte Homes at last has a formal agreement with the town of Florence for the signs Pulte can display in and around the community.
The agreement, or “sign package,” still allows Pulte’s signs to be larger and more numerous than anywhere else in town, although it will no longer have signs on semitrailers sitting on Hunt Highway.
Earlier this year, a Planning & Zoning commissioner complained that Anthem’s signs were unlike any others allowed in Florence. In addition to big advertising and informational signs, the development has large permanent monument signs, banners promoting events and even flags to draw attention to rows of model homes.
