A personal tour of 7B Ranch with Ranch Manager Celeste Andresen

Southeast Arizona’s Copper Corridor now boasts a peaceful, shady walking trail through a mature velvet mesquite forest adjacent to the lower San Pedro River. The 1 ½ mile easy loop trail is located near the town of Mammoth, Arizona on the 7B Ranch, which is owned by Resolution Copper Mining.  Ranch manager, Celeste Andresen, designed and built the trail which opened for visitors on April 13, 2013 during the first annual “San Pedro EcoFest.”  The Audubon Society selected the lower San Pedro River as an Important Bird Area because of its significance to millions of birds migrating between Mexico and the western states, its diversity of bird species, and its abundance of birds that are uncommon in other locations, such as Lucy’s warblers, Bell’s vireos, gray hawks, and vermilion flycatchers.  Walk the trail early in the morning for the best chance to see birds and other wildlife. This is a serene, shady hike for spring through fall, and a pleasant place to take a winter hike.
