Pinal supervisor says cutting programs better than raising taxes

Pinal County Supervisor Pete Rios says $4.6 million in state programs are being cost-shifted to the county this year, and in order to make up for the additional costs, some county programs have to be cut.
Rios, D-Dudleyville, made a visit to the monthly Coolidge Chamber of Commerce luncheon March 16 and provided several updates to the group that gathered at the Coolidge Unified School District board room.
Rios said for the Board of Supervisors, the only revenues it can increase in the county to cover the difference is property taxes, but he explained what type of reception that garners from taxpayers.
