From a field of weeds to a field of dreams

Driving by the Laurie Armstrong Field of Dreams in front of the Boys and Girls Club Superstition Mountain Branch, all a person would notice is the overgrown weeds overtaking the outfield fence and the field.
Pastor Bob Lenz from Thrive Christian Church, 201 N. Ironwood Drive, was doing just that one day when he decided to get involved.
“What really caught my eye was the garbage outside,” Pastor Lenz said. “The Laurie Armstrong Field of Dreams sign has weeds growing over it. That’s a sad picture to me.”
Pastor Lenz is putting together a community event to clean up the field on May 14. He put a call out on Facebook asking people to bring whatever they have and help make the field a Field of Dreams again.
“It is a perfect opportunity for not only the Apache Junction community but anybody else that wants to be a part of this,” he said. “I see this as the community coming out to do something for the kids.”
