Big piece of Casa Grande history disappears

CASA GRANDE —  Demolition of a piece of Casa Grande history began Monday.

The property at 419 W. Second St. is being torn down after city officials accepted a bid from AGE General Engineering to do the job earlier this year. Crew workers began demolishing the building Monday and expect to finish by Wednesday.

The city acquired the property in 2010 with the intention of demolishing it. The building had spent years unoccupied, falling into disrepair, and reportedly had traces of asbestos.
