CASA GRANDE — Casa Grande Community Services Director Bill Schwind announced he will retire from his position on July 15.

He has spent a cumulative 11 years working for the city, starting as a recreation program manager back in 1984. He left that position after five years and returned to Casa Grande in 2012 to become director of the Community Services Department.

Some projects completed during his tenure include renovating the Casa Grande Main Library, developing trails at Casa Grande Mountain and various improvements to Carr McNatt Park. One project not to be completed under his watch is the community recreation center, currently in the preconstruction and design phase at Peart Road and Prickly Pear Way.

“I am thankful to have been given the opportunity to dedicate the last years of my career to the residents of Casa Grande,” Schwind stated in a press release.
