Election 2016: Bennett: Rein in spending

CASA GRANDE — Former Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett is worried the country is digging itself into a financial hole that it won’t be able to climb out of.
He said when he announced his candidacy for Arizona’s 1st Congressional District last summer that he was motivated partly by a concern that his grandchildren will someday be faced with an insurmountable federal debt.
Remedying that $18 trillion debt, he said, is the first step to solving many of the country’s other problems such as unemployment and national security. Congress can’t begin making effective changes until its financial house is put in order, he said.
