Protesters make voices heard at Palo Verde open house

Joe Witinski was determined to get the word out about Tuesday’s open house for the proposed Palo Verde Regional Park, a project encompassing about 23,000 acres just west of Maricopa.

The Maricopa resident fashioned a bright orange, 4×8-foot sign encouraging passersby to attend and rigged it upright in the bed of his truck. “WE NEED YOUR HELP” it reads in part – help not to urge the project forward but rather to put an end to it.
