Pinal County Attorney’s Office says a virus has compromised its files

A virus has infected the case-management database of the Pinal County Attorney’s Office, according to a statement released by the Attorney’s Office Tuesday night.
Employees discovered that a virus had breached their files last week while processing a public-records request, the statement said. The county’s main information-technology department was immediately notified and is currently addressing the virus, known as CryptoLocker, that essentially infects and encrypts files until a “ransom” is paid to unlock them, the statement said.
