Valenzuela has Superior recall vote on horizon
SUPERIOR — Mayor Jayme Valenzuela first took office after a recall election in 2011 ousted former Mayor Michael Hing.
Now, Valenzuela faces the same fate, and the imminent decision seems to be weighing on him.
It’s been a rough year for Valenzuela. The Superior Town Council voted to have him investigated in January. In February, the mayor, who is also a jail commander at the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, was put on administrative reassignment. And then, the possibility of a recall became reality in April.
