Board passes budget
CASA GRANDE — The Casa Grande Union High School District approved a proposed budget Thursday, but not all board members were satisfied with how funds were allocated for the upcoming school year.
They passed it in time to meet a deadline the state imposes on school districts to publish a proposed budget before the Governing Board votes to officially adopt it. The board is scheduled to meet again July 12, when it’ll likely vote to adopt the budget, so it had until today to pass a proposed budget.
The board voted against approving the proposed budget on Monday, forcing another vote to be scheduled later in the week. Board members Ed Barbour, Nancy Hawkins and Wes Mitchell voted “no,” asking for more information from the district.
Board members received some additional numbers on Thursday. The $2.2 million override money that was missing from the original proposed budget, reportedly due to a clerical error, was restored and listed where it should be.
