Deputies back Volkmer over Voyles in PCAO race
FLORENCE — After snubbing “Law and Order” teammate Steve Henry for Pinal County sheriff, the Pinal County Deputies Association has now delivered another endorsement that further casts that joint campaign aside.
The PCDA announced its endorsement of Kent Volkmer for Pinal County attorney on Tuesday, opting for the challenger over incumbent Lando Voyles in a race that will be decided in the August Republican primary.
“I’m very humbled and very honored,” Volkmer said. “To me, it serves as an affirmation of what I’ve been hearing from people in the public — that it’s a time for change. People want a change, and it sounds like the deputies want that same change.”
Through the course of his campaign, Volkmer said he has heard from even the farthest reaches of the county that residents are “ready for the county attorney to be independent from the sheriff” and vice versa.
