Florence Council OKs millions for engineering
After some discussion, the Town Council approved six separate items authorizing the town to spend just over $2.5 million on “on-call” engineering services with six different firms over the next two years.
Sitting as the directors of the town’s two Community Facilities Districts, the council members approved another quarter-million dollars of engineering for each CFD.
It might not all be spent, but neither were the numbers arbitrarily chosen, Town Manager Brent Billingsley told the council. The figures are based on the council-approved Capital Improvement Plan, and the projects the town expects to complete this year or next year, he said.
“We believe we can do the work the council expects us to do in the next two years with these contracts,” Billingsley said.
