Since the Santa Cruz Valley Historic Museum signed a 99-year lease in 2003 to restore two historic Toltec school buildings, much work has been done, but there’s still lots to do, said Dick Myers, museum president.

“My goal is to try and be done with the main building by the fall of 2018 or sooner, providing we can raise the funds or find some grant money,” Myers said.

A fundraiser on Friday, Nov. 4 aims to raise money to continue restoration work on the buildings. About $100,000 is needed to complete the project.

With a theme of “fiesta time,” the Santa Cruz Valley Historic Museum annual dinner dance fundraiser will be held at The Property, 1251 W Gila Bend Highway in Casa Grande. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The band Acertijo Norteño will provide the dance music for the evening. Tickets are $50 each or $90 for two.
