Pinal County is represented in 4 legislative districts, LD 8, LD 11, LD 12 & LD 16. All candidates running for the legislature in any of these districts, were sent a one question survey re: San Tan Valley’s Right to Vote.

Below is the question that was sent & the responses received from each candidate.

QUESTION:

Currently state statute allows communities with 15,000 or more residents, to follow guidelines enabling the community to vote on whether or not they want to become a city, without requiring the approval from neighboring municipalities, unless those communities are in Pinal County. Will you support legislation in 2017, to change state law so that Pinal County residents, more specifically, the residents in San Tan Valley, have the right to decide for themselves if they want to vote on whether or not they a want to become a city, without allowing neighboring municipalities, that are as small as 1/10th of the population, from vetoing their right to vote?
