Johnson Utilities tap water deemed safe for infants after Pinal County scare
The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has found nitrate levels higher than federal standards allow in water provided by Johnson Utilities.
With this revelation comes serious concern for infants less than six months old, for whom the levels found pose a health risk. ADEQ warned parents not to give water provided by the company to infants; that caution included using the water to prepare formula or juice either, and parents should substitute tap water with bottled water until further notice.
A statement by Johnson Utilities owner George Johnson made roughly 90 minutes after the ADEQ alert completes refutes the ADEQ claims, stating emphatically “OUR WATER IS SAFE TO DRINK.”
