New Casa Grande solar farm to power 300 homes
Pinal Central
A Pinal County electrical district has brought a solar farm in Casa Grande online that will generate enough electricity to power 300 homes, company officials said.
The 1.5-megawatt SunPower solar energy system designed and installed by Sun Valley Solar Solutions was commissioned on Jan. 4 by Electrical District No. 2, 5575 N Eleven Mile Corner Rd..
Company officials said the new solar plant is projected to provide enough clean and sustainable energy to power approximately 300 homes over the next 30 to 40 years. ED2 said in a press release over the system’s lifetime, this is equivalent to avoiding the carbon dioxide emissions of burning over 76 million pounds of coal, according to estimates generated by the Environmental Protection Agency’s greenhouse gas equivalencies calculator.
