Pinal woman continues fight against proposed solar plant

A Florida-based energy company continues to move forward with its plans for the Pinal Central Energy Center, which could be one of the first combined solar and battery storage plants in the country.

Officials say the proposed facility near Eleven Mile Corner could one day possibly power tens of thousands of homes.

“We’ve been talking for so many years that we’re going do solar and storage together, and that someone’s going to be able to flip on the lights and pull solar power out at night, and here we are,” Project Manager Jess Melin said.
