Casa Grande honored as a playful city again

The city of Casa Grande has once again been honored as a playful city.

For the ninth year in a row the city has been awarded the designation by the nonprofit organization KaBOOM!

Casa Grande is one of 258 cities nationwide to receive the honor, which is given to cities that make it easy for kids to play in.

Specific programs and projects that qualified for this recognition include the city’s free Len Colla after-school program, its numerous community events hosted throughout the year at various locations, its partnership with The Boys & Girls Clubs of Casa Grande Valley to provide free after-school teen activities at Vista Grande High School and the updated Carr McNatt master plan project that will provide increased recreational opportunities at an existing site.

“I’m extremely proud to see Casa Grande continue to receive this important recognition,” said Mayor Craig McFarland. “Play is critical for the well-being of our community’s children, and it is important for city leaders and residents to continue to create great, safe places for kids to thrive.

It is my hope that our residents are as proud of this as I am and will continue to take advantage of all that Casa Grande has to offer.”
