Agreement may be near on development water for ag land

A compromise regarding the amount of water that agricultural land retains for future development may be near.
Tasked with altering the water credit program, a committee of the Pinal Active Management Area is working to address concerns of the local farming community regarding credit calculations and premature retirement of agricultural lands.
The Pinal Local Water Group developed a draft proposal for a state rule change for extinguishment credits and groundwater allowance in the AMA, which encompasses roughly 4,000 square miles in central Arizona.
