Proposed Casa Grande group home expansion tabled after split vote

The operator of a children’s group home in Casa Grande will have to wait another month to see if the facility can accept more clients.
In a lengthy Planning and Zoning Commission meeting Thursday night, commissioners tabled a major amendment to planned-area development zoning in the Ironwood Commons area. A split by the commissioners made approval or denial impossible. Commissioner Robert Miller was absent.
Safeway House is a residential facility that currently is allowed to house six clients ages 7 to 16. Operator Tiffany Battle said none of the children is younger than 12.
