Task force examines water quality standards

Central Arizona Project

In May 2017, Central Arizona Project (CAP) Board President Lisa Atkins established the Water Quality Standards Task Force, comprised of CAP Board Members.

The scope of the Task Force is to review the legal, operational and policy considerations related to the quality of non-project water that is introduced into the CAP system.

The Task Force has engaged stakeholders in the process from the beginning. At the June meeting, 9 water quality presentations were given by groups including the Bureau of Reclamation, City of Phoenix and the Gila River Indian Community. They addressed water quality issues, Reclamation policies, treatment technologies and limitations, and more.
