Supporters tout petition for San Tan Valley incorporation

Vote San Tan urged community members to remember that the petition to put incorporation on the ballot is about letting San Tan Valley residents have a say in their collective future as a community.

“You are going to, whether you’re for it or against it, have the chance to say yes or no,” steering committee member Mike Torres said in a press conference at San Tan Flat on Tuesday. “The status quo is no longer an option. We are either going to be absorbed by other communities or chart our own course.”

Vote San Tan will begin counting the population of its proposed San Tan Valley boundaries in a few days, a critical step in creating a budget for the incorporation that would put to rest many critical unanswered questions surrounding the incorporation effort, such as how municipal services would be paid for and provided.
