Historic Florence building owners sued by former tenant

Merchants who were barred from their North Main Street store after the town deemed the historic structure unsafe have sued the building’s owners.
Conquest Arms alleges breach of contract and breach of “the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing,” and seeks damages “in an amount to be proven at trial” from Gem Cox and his wife, Kelly Gordon, referred to in the complaint as “the Landlords.”
The historic W.C. Smith Building at 368 and 374 N. Main St. has been closed since March 16, 2017, when the town shut it down. Conquest’s complaint, in Pinal County Superior Court, says it was forced to leave behind all of its inventory, equipment and supplies, including approximately $500,000 worth of firearms and ammunition.
